Malaysian Salsa Festival 2007 - The Destination

For four days from morning to early morning, you’ll have the opportunity to choose from many of the dance workshops from beginner to advanced levels in different styles of Latin dance, being taught by a list of the most sought after Instructors both nationally and internationally renowned. Spectacular dance performances comprised of the hottest local and international dance groups from around the world. And the night ends (or not) with taglines such as ...

"We Partied till the Crack of Dawn! Every. Single. Night.".

And guess what ... there's no one to call your mobile phone ... asking you to get home because it's too late !!!!!!

All of this and more, right smack in the heart of a lust tropical forest where the sun shines at the deep blue sea .... where bosses can't find you, emails don't arrive and traffic jams are unheard of.

This year marks the second year of the Malaysian International Salsa Festival. For those of you who attended the Malaysian International Salsa Festival 2006, I am sure the memories are still fresh. You will be able to "re-live" those exciting moments this year. As for those first timers, believe me you are not going to want to miss any of this. Being that this is THE ULTIMATE AND MOST AFFORDABLE SALSA HOLIDAY available, there’s absolutely no sleeping till Sunday. Oh and whatever happens at the Malaysian Salsa Festival, stays at the Malaysian Salsa Festival.

And now a little about our holiday destination, the Swiss-Garden Resort & Spa Damai Laut.

Swiss-Garden Resort & Spa Damai Laut is a very private hotel with 300 well appointed guestrooms overlooking the Straits of Malacca and Pangkor Island. It is located on a 425 acres of natural rainforest and surrounded by lush tropical rainforest, wetlands and offers beautifully landscaped gardens and large open spaces with breathtaking sea view for guests who want to relax and enjoy a wonderful retreat to nature.

All rooms are either overlooking the serene blue sea or lush tropical forest. Each of the rooms are spacious and comes with a hint of unobtrusive elegance. The decor is of traditional Malaysian design to show our desire to make your stay as comfortable as home.

For those focused on improving their salsa and overall dance skills, we have got a jam-packed schedule. We can’t release the details now but WE CAN REVEAL THAT WE HAVE 30 WORKSHOP SLOTS CONFIRMED AT THIS TIME!!! The actual number may change closer to the festival date. If your feet have the stamina, you could be looking at up to 5 workshops a day! And of course what would a beach salsa getaway be if we didn’t have a workshop on the beach or by the pool? DETAILS TO BE REVEALED CLOSER TO THE FESTIVAL DATE. Keep checking www.malaysiansalsafestival.com

In future issues we’ll be featuring all the instructors in more detail, but for now, we’ll just give you a taste!

Those lucky enough to make it last year will remember Santo Rico Dance Company, who came with 4 members and really set the MSF 2006 stage on fire! Their enjoyment and pleasure in their performance was clear to everyone there. They enjoyed themselves so much that THIS YEAR, 6 MEMBERS of Santo Rico will be coming to perform at the Malaysian Salsa Festival 2007! The opportunity to see them perform as a group in Asia does not come along very often and we encourage you to come and witness this amazing group do their level best to entertain you.

Last year we also had the pleasure of hosting Susanna Montero as a workshop instructor. Susanna is one of the world’s premier instructors and performers. This year SHE’S BACK & she’s bringing Leon Rose with her!!! AND THEY’RE GOING TO PERFORM AND TEACH!!! Leon is known for his smooth dancing & awesome body movement. He’s very friendly, and has a great sense of humour. People, people, you don’t know what you’re missing if you don’t come…

Now for some of the “Newbies”:

This year Francisco Vazquez will be here in Malaysia FOR THE FIRST TIME, teaching AND performing! He introduced the fast & explosive LA-style salsa with his brothers and is a thrill to watch on the dance floor…remember to pick your jaws up off the floor after they drop in astonishment once you witness his amazing signature spins! He hails from Los Angeles, U.S.A.

Many of you may not know Magna Gopal, but we have it personally from a participant (who took a spins class from her in the Indian Salsa Festival just recently the first week in April) who waxed lyrical about her spinning skills, and another was over-the-moon deep in dance infatuation, over the experience of being able to dance with her. A fast rising star in the scene, she joins us from New York, U.S.A. and will be a featured instructor. Well-known for her spins and exceptional following skills, Magna never says no to anyone asking her for a dance…even to the ladies!

From Australia, Nestor and Lidia, the current 2007 Asian Salsa Champions, will be in town with their group Modus Vivendi. Some of us managed to witness their performance in the first international Salsa Fiesta de Indonesia (also organized by LinLine Production in cooperation with Salseros Indonesia and Salsa Fresca)….WOW, WOW, WOW. They are something to behold. If you came last year and are coming for MSF 2007, you may notice that Nestor bears more than a passing resemblance to a previous Australian instructor and performer who came last year….. ;-)

Well that’s all for now…..we’ll share more fun info about the upcoming MSF 2007 soon! To register for the Malaysian Salsa Festival 2007 GO NOW to www.malaysiansalsafestival.com! See you in August!
